ESTIMATING YOUR COSTS

When assessing the costs of a new HR solution, ask each vendor the following questions:

Implementation

  • Is pricing based on the project, or do you charge hourly?

  • Are there additional fees for change orders?

  • Do implementation costs cover all features, or are they charged by module?

Hidden costs

Will there be extra charges for:

  • Training?

  • Off-cycle checks or transactions?

  • Custom reports and tables?

  • Software releases?

  • Carrier feed changes?

  • New features?

  • EOY fees? (W2s, 1095s)

Pricing models

  • What factors determine the cost?

  • How does billing work—what costs happen when (monthly, year-end, etc.)?

  • How does the cost change as our company grows?

  • How often do you increase prices?
